Inspiring, informing and involving families of people with learning disabilities

Older Carers

OxFSN recognises that older carers who have a relative with a learning disability often face a unique set of struggles that combine the challenges of ageing with the ongoing demands of lifelong caring.

We know many families worry about what will happen to their loved one when they are no longer able to provide the care and support for them. Where will they go? Who will provide the support?  Will their siblings or others have the information they need, to know what to do?

At OxFSN, through the Embolden project we work closely with family carers to put a clear plan in place so that when your family member needs that future support, the detailed information that others need to know is readily available.

The support that we offer includes Information Events and smaller "Coffee and Chat" sessions which cover critical topics like supported living , person centred planning and managing finances, as well as bringing family carers together to reduce isolation and share ideas.

If you would like further support, or know of someone who would benefit from our support, please contact us at info@oxfsn.org.uk or call 07821 987080.
