Moving into Adulthood
The Moving into Adulthood Training is a 4-hour in person workshop for any professional or organisation that is supporting family carers or people with learning disabilities through the Moving into Adulthood phase.
OxFSN are in the unique position of supporting families of people with learning disabilities so have a good insight in to what is important to and for families to help them navigate this complex phase of their relative’s life.
Course length: 4 hours in person
Introduction to Person Centred thinking and approaches
Person-centred thinking and approaches places individuals at the heart of their own care, prioritising their unique needs, goals, and preferences over system-led processes.
This 4-hour workshop will use person centred tools to look at how person-centred approaches help professionals to understand what matters most to someone - balancing their desired life with necessary support - to foster independence, dignity, and improved quality of life.
Course length: 4 hours in person
Person Centred Review Training
Equips education, health, and social care professionals and support providers with the skills to place individuals at the heart of their own care planning, focusing on strengths, aspirations, and active participation.
Training covers facilitating reviews, using person-centred thinking tools, building one-page profiles, and creating action plans that promote choice and control. This is a 4-hour workshop.
Course length: 4 hours in person
Creating One Page Profiles
In this 3-hour workshop, OxFSN will focus on "person-centred thinking," helping individuals and professionals to capture a snapshot of a person's strengths, needs, and preferences on a single page.
It will guide you through the process of completing a one-page profile for yourself as a first step towards using one page profiles for the people you support.
Course length: 3 hours in person
Creating one-page profiles - Professionals
This 3-hour workshop is for anyone working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism (or anyone else requiring support from health and social care), support providers who provide either outreach and/or supported living support to people with learning disabilities and/or autism, schools and colleges.
It will explore the benefits and the many ways One Page Profiles can be used. We will guide you through the process of completing your own as the first step towards using one-page profiles with the people you support.
Course length: 3 hours in person
Working with Families Training
This 4-hour workshop is designed and delivered by family carers of people with learning disabilities for professionals working in Health and Social Care and Support Providers.
It will help professionals work in a way that enhances relationships with families and to share some simple practices that create a shared understanding and opens the way to good communication and cooperation between professionals and the families they work with.
The workshop includes:
- Understanding the ‘family journey’
- The impact of this journey on families and implications for staff/professionals
- What is important to and for families
- The importance of good communication, Do’s and Don’ts when working with families
- Some problem solving when things get tricky
- Understanding negative reputations and the impact on relationships
- Families as allies on the ground
Course length: 4 hours in person
Consultancy
Working with Families - Mediation & Support
Despite the best intentions sometimes relationships between families, staff teams and provider organisations become tricky. This can result in unhappy families, unhappy staff and a lot of time and resources spent by senior managers to resolve the situation. Sometimes an independent perspective can help!
Our Family Support and Mediation Service:
- Offers independent advocacy for families of the people you support to help them work better with staff teams.
- Provides advice, training and support for staff teams to help them develop better communication and stronger partnerships with families.
- Provides the opportunity to work through particular difficulties and come up with solutions together.
- Facilitates mediation when things get difficult.
- Supports staff teams by building reslience in dealing with difficult situations.
- Provides a report with recommendations on completion.
